2010 – Blood donors making the nation proud!
We all started the year with guarded excitement about the 2010 FIFA World Cup and potential disruption to our lives. South African National Blood Service (SANBS) had to put a Contingency Plan as an assurance to the nation that there would be no disruption to blood supplies.
As blood donors you did it for the nation and our international visitors. We have had the most stable blood stock levels ever and it’s thanks to you all. SANBS had not appealed in the media for blood donations in the period leading to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
SANBS is proud to serve communities of committed and selfless individuals, happy to brave inclement weather as seasons change, heavy traffic as our country reconstructs the roads and the occasional inconvenience of waiting in a queue to donate your precious blood.
We thank and call upon you all, families and friends to continue the great contribution you are making to babies, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters of saving their lives and improving their health.
SANBS will continue to improve its service to you and to the health system of our country. Our sincere gratitude go to the media for supporting SANBS’ cause, corporates for allowing the organisation to collect blood from your employees, government and the public.
